With well-documented achievements including a 100-point NBA game and an alleged count of 20,000 female partners still in his bright future, Hall of Famer Wilt Chamberlain had established “legendary” status at Philadelphia’s Overbrook High School. Set to graduate that facility, Chamberlain was portrayed in and signed this 1955 The Record yearbook. Having just powered the Panthers to a second straight City Championship and poured in a record 2,252 career points, a smiling Chamberlain is pictured on page 20 in the composite photo section. The Kansas-bound senior’s profile lists his lofty ambition as: “dreams of becoming an educated hobo.” In blue ink, Chamberlain has endorsed his likeness with a period scripting of “My Natural Ace – (signed) Wilt” (“9” strength). Full photo LOA from JSA. This item has a reserve (estimated value $1000-$3000)
The volume presents nicely with hardbound covers and pages intact. Chamberlain is also pictured on page 55 in (2) black-and-white basketball group photos. This hardwood artifact is doubly appealing in that it's one of the earliest Chamberlain souvenirs and it is decorated with a pre-college and pro Chamberlain signature.
