The purchase of this leather-bound Reach baseball scorebook afforded its original owner the opportunity to document contests involving teams from the New York-Penn League and, when October rolled around, World Series contests during the early- to mid-1930s. In the end, however, dozens of marquee names appeared not only on the scoring grids, but with (48) spectacular autographs (including 11 HOFers) that project (8-9) to (10) potency throughout! Following page after page of painstaking penciled game accounts, cut signatures have been adhered to score sheets. Highlights include: Bancroft, Crawford, Evans, Grimes, Grove, B. Harris, Hooper, Hubbell, T. Jackson, G. Kelly, Mack, McKechnie and Terry. Full photo LOA from JSA. More on our website.
Additional signatures include:
1933 St. Louis Browns Whitey Whitehead, Jimmie Wilson
1934-1935 Boston Braves Hank Gowdy (coach), Duffy Lewis (coach), Les Mallon
1935-1938 Cincinnati Reds Chuck Dressen (manager), Ival Goodman, Frank McCormick, Bill Myers, Gene Schott, Tom Sheehan (coach)
1936 New York Giants Clyde Castleman, Dick Coffman, Harry Danning, Freddie Fitzsimmons, Frank Gabler, Dolph Luque (coach), Gus Mancuso, Eddie Mayo, Jo-Jo Moore, Jimmie Ripple, Hal Schumacher, Al Smith, Roy Spencer
Miscellaneous Eddie Ainsmith, Stan Baumgartner, Willie Kamm, Bert Niehoff, John Ogden, Cy Perkins, Hank Severeid and (4) unidentified.
Additionally, the clubhouse versions of Grover Cleveland Alexander and Mel Ott. A page with signatures of (20) 1939 Detroit Tigers consists entirely of clubhouse versions.
Note: while some of the signatures have been adhered by and partially covered with vintage adhesive tape, the autographs still project incredible strength and clarity.
