The youngest hurler to reach the 300-wins plateau, Hall of Famer Kid Nichols was through with baseball at the age of 36, dabbled in the motion picture distribution business and eventually excelled on the Kansas City bowling circuit. In his quaint Midwestern retirement town, Nichols was honored with a day in his name and autographed this souvenir card. Following up, no doubt, on Cooperstown’s tribute to Nichols on June 13, 1949, the Co-Operative Club of Kansas City held “Kid Nichols Day” on August 16 of that year and distributed this 3-1/2 x 4-1/2” thick stock card with Nichols’ image and career stats. Executed in blue ballpoint, Nichols scripting (signed “Charles “Kid” Nichols”) projects (“8-9”) potency. The crisp card is crease-free and has strips of period tape on the upper and lower edges.
