Enjoying an undefeated season the 1956 USF Dons captured their second consecutive NCAA basketball title. During a 3/2/56 double-header HOFer Bill Russell, (5) teammates and (1) opposing player took time to sign the offered 1956 California Basketball Association media guide. Russell’s (“9”) period signature appears inside the front cover along with fellow HOFer K.C. Jones (“9”). Appearing on the front cover are Preaseau (“8”), Farmer (“8”) and Pepperdine’s Taylor (“8”). Bolt (“8”) and Perry (“8”) appear on the back cover. Full photo LOA from JSA. More on our website.
The California Basketball Association is now known as the West Coast Conference. The trio of Russell, Jones and Perry made history in 1955 as USF became the first team to win the NCAA tournament fielding three African-American starters. George Taylor was Pepperdine’s leading scorer.
The offered media guide presents in (EX) condition and is scored in pen. A (VG-EX) ticket stub is stapled to the front cover.
