Description

An integral part of the power-packed 1977 Boston Red Sox line-up, Hall of Fame slugger Jim Rice blasted 39 homers, to lead the AL. Rice also knocked in 114 runs, while batting .320 with 83 extra base hits, to finish fourth in AL MVP voting. Some of the damage he inflicted on opposing pitchers that year, came with the offered bat in hand. Wielded by Rice during the 1977 campaign, this Louisville Sluggers model C243 bat shows extensive signs of authentic use, including contact marks, ball stitch impressions, grain splits, surface flaking, and bat rack streaks on the barrel, and a considerable coating of pine tar on the handle. Rice's uniform number "14" is written on the knob of this flamed burned ash bat, which measures 35-3/4", with a weight of 34.4 ounces, as noted on the accompanying full photo LOA from PSA/DNA, which provides a grade designation of (GU 9).
